Apna Virsa is a community organisation based in Slough and constituted in Jan 2007.The main purpose of our organisation is to explore, share and celebrate South Asian Culture and Heritage with the larger community, promote awareness and better communication between different communities and to promote health and Wellbeing by targeting health issues, social isolation and addressing different barriers faced by our participants.
Our organisation runs a variety of projects including workshops, courses, events and activities using creative methods such as use of arts as a medium for self-expression and self- empowerment
We have worked with over 5000 people from the diverse community of Slough and supprounding areas, delivered numerous projects catering for youngsters, BME women, older people, people with disabilities, new arrivals and lone parents.
We run activities across Berkshire and Buckinghamshire with the sole aim of benefitting the lives of local communities.
Our activities around Arts, Culture and Health encourage self-empowerment, social interaction and reduce feelings of isolation.
