Bhangra for All – Celebrating the Heartbeat of Punjabi Weddings
Step into the colour, joy, and high-energy traditions of Punjabi weddings with Bhangra for All — a vibrant part of Apna Virsa’s Shaadi Parampara heritage project. Through dance, music, and shared experiences, we explore how these traditions continue to bring families and communities together.
Our first session was an incredible start!
Participants from across the community — some trying Bhangra for the very first time — joined us to learn the steps, rhythm, and meaning behind this iconic Punjabi celebration dance.
From warmups to confident final routines, the session captured exactly what Bhangra embodies: joy, togetherness, and the spirit of celebration. Many participants shared how the session helped them understand the cultural importance of dance in Indian weddings — not just as entertainment, but as a way to honour roots, express happiness, and unite families.
Our project continues to grow as we gather stories, movements, and memories that shape the traditions of Punjabi weddings.
Each session builds on the last — blending cultural learning with high-energy activity suitable for ages 12+.
Bhangra isn’t just a dance — it’s an announcement of happiness, a shared language of celebration, and a symbol of unity. By taking part, you are helping preserve these traditions for future generations while experiencing them in the most joyful way possible.
We celebrate the vibrant spirit of Punjabi culture — while helping preserve our shared heritage for future generations.
